Dear American Legion Audie L. Murphy Post No. 336 Member:

Welcome to all new and returning members from all the Post Officers and Members.

Donations are being accepted for American Legion Programs.  Please contact the Commander to contribute. We are a 501c (Tax-Exempt) veterans organization and receipts will be given for contributions. We have given donations to The "Blue Santa" organization in Leon Valley, the "Camp Corral" organization, Cub Scout Pack 485, the Fisher Houses at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital and at the Wilford Hall location, Lackland AFB, and the Military Veterans Day Parade Association, to name just a few.  We also have a medical scholarship program set up at the University of Texas San Antonio, medical campus.  We are already committing $500.00 to the first of many recipients:

The American Legion Audie L. Murphy Post No. 336 presented it’s first medical endowment scholarship to Cassandra Bullock a US Army veteran.  The medical scholarship for veterans is named American Legion Post No. 336 Endowment Scholarship in Memory of Irwin Barath.  Irwin was a longtime Post member and was instrumental along with Post member JC Smith and Gwen Notestine, UT Health San Antonio, in its creation

Upcoming Events and Changes

The Audie L. Murphy Post 336 annual Christmas Party was held Saturday, December 18, 2021 beginning at Alamo Post 2, 3518 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, TX, 78201. A BBQ dinner was catered by El Monte Restaurant in Leon Valley and served by Post 336 Auxiliary members and several volunteers.  The evening was filled with music by a local DJ, various games for young and old alike, and door prize drawings until all donations were gone.  We had a really good time!

We will conduct a "Buddy Check" on January 22, 2022, from 1000 to 1200 hours at Aligned Mortgage, 5590 Summit Parkway, San Antonio, TX.  Please join me, Richard Wood, there and we will call fellow members just to see how they're doing and if they need any assistance.  No pressure calls.  Any questions?  Call me at (210) 827-7985 or email me at  Don't make me to this alone!!

The Post was gifted a 1942 Willys Jeep in 2019.  We have been in the restoration process and are working to completely fund this project.  To that end, we will have a "Silent Auction" at our December 18, 2021 Post Christmas Party for two gift baskets, hopefully filled with Lotto scratch off tickets and gift cards generously donated by our membership.  We are also asking that our membership make a donation directly to our Jeep Restoration Chairperson, Lloyd Adams, (210) 381-3427, email,  or to our Finance Officer, Richard Wood, (210) 827-7985, email

Please mark your calendars for next April 2022 (exact day as yet to be determined) when we will again come together to spruce up the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Highway (portion of Evers Rd).
